There’s a new magazine in the shops now, ‘Green? Ireland, a magazine for the environmentally conscious’, and I hope it does well. Difficult climate to be launching any new publication. But this one is good, and targets the green economy sector with a nice bit of politics in the mix too. See article ‘Have the greens sold out on us?’ – I was interviewed for this article a month or so before the local elections. The main thrust of my argument about the greens is that you cannot and should not separate environment policies from fair and just social and economic policies. The greens were founded on the basis of sustainability, and taking a rights based approach to decision making. Yet I believe greens in Government are doing the exact opposite to the mandate they received from the electorate.
