Former Green Councillor and Party Activist Joins Labour

Statement by Eamon Gilmore TD, Leader Labour Party.

14 October 2009

“I am delighted to announce that the former Dublin City Councillor and long time Green Party activist, Bronwen Maher, has joined the Labour Party. “Bronwen will be a major asset to the Labour Party in Dublin North Central, but her knowledge and experience on environmental issues will also be a valuable resource for the party nationally.

Joining the Labour Party“Since my election as Party Leader more than two years ago, I have emphasised the need to grow the party and to attract new members. In the past few months we have had the most successful local elections ever; we have seen unprecedented levels of support in the opinion polls and we are attracting a steady stream of new members.

“Anyone who shares our values and supports our policies is welcome in the Labour Party, regardless of their political backgrounds”, Deputy Gilmore said.  See full statement here.
